SCENE 01 / VIRTUAL PRODUCTION

Virtual Production

LED volume and real-time VFX for your French production.

Scroll

Virtual production blends real filmmaking with live digital worlds. It uses LED volumes, motion capture, and game engine tech to create in-camera visual effects. Directors and cinematographers see results right away, so post timelines drop and the set stays creatively open.

We connect you with virtual production stages and tech teams that render real worlds live for your project. Our team handles stage booking, the content pipeline, and on-set tech support, which keeps your workflow smooth from pre-visualization through final capture.

Our Process

1

Pre-Visualization

We plan shots and build virtual worlds before the shoot begins.

2

Asset Creation

We build detailed 3D worlds tuned for real-time rendering.

3

Stage Production

We shoot on the LED volume with the world playing back live.

4

Finishing

We handle final compositing, grading, and any added VFX polish.

On Location

LED volume and real-time VFX in France

France has moved into the LED volume era with real setup. The roster includes DVgroup's Plateau Virtuel in Cergy-Pontoise, the LED stages around Cité du Cinéma in Saint-Denis, and the Marseille Provence Studios volume on the Mediterranean coast, plus partner stages that feed into Mac Guff and Mikros for post. We book stage time on the LED wall that fits your shot list. That might be a curved automotive volume for car interiors with reflective bodywork, or a wraparound performance stage where actors play against rendered Parisian skylines, Provence landscapes, or invented worlds.

Our virtual art department builds Unreal Engine 5 worlds that are Lumen-lit, Nanite-meshed, and photogrammetry-baked from real French places or drawn from concept. On set, our team runs the brain bar with stYpe RedSpy or Mo-Sys StarTracker for perspective-correct parallax. We staff Unreal supervisors, color scientists, and on-set DITs from the Paris and Lyon VP pools. We also tie back to your Mac Guff or Mikros pipeline, so final pixel work, plate cleanup, and grade roll into one steady workflow rather than the brittle hand-off green screen always demanded.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is virtual production?

Virtual production uses LED walls that show live rendered worlds in place of green screens. The camera sees a finished background on set, so you make creative calls right away and get in-camera effects that react to the lighting.

What are the benefits over green screen?

LED volumes give true reflections in eyes and surfaces, real lighting on actors, and instant creative feedback. They also cut post time and remove green spill and tricky keying work.

What software do you use?

We mainly use Unreal Engine for real-time rendering, plus trusted tools for tracking, color science, and asset management. The system works with standard cinema cameras and workflows.

Can you create custom environments?

Yes, our virtual art department builds custom 3D worlds tuned for LED volume display. These can be lifelike places, fantasy worlds, or anything in between, all delivered ready for real-time playback.

What about camera tracking?

Camera tracking is key for perspective-correct backgrounds. Our pro tracking systems sync the camera position with the rendered world, so parallax and perspective hold true as the camera moves.

Where are LED volumes in France?

France has several LED volume stages in a range of sizes. We can point you to the best stage for your needs and set up every tech part of the shoot, including crew and gear.

Productions in France that need this often pair it with AR Production, LED Wall Virtual Production, and Green Screen Filming for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Camera & Cinematography and Production Services.
