SCENE 01 / WIRE CAM SYSTEMS

Wire Cam Systems

Cable-suspended cameras for dynamic overhead coverage.

Scroll

Wire cam systems hang cameras on motorized cable rigs for sweeping overhead shots, dramatic reveals, and dynamic tracking moves across large spaces. The cameras follow stable, repeatable paths that cover distances and heights well beyond the reach of cranes or dollies.

We source wire cam systems and skilled rigging crews to match your venue and your shot list. Our team handles installation, safety certification, and rehearsals so the rig delivers smooth, reliable camera movement on the day.

Our Process

1

Venue Survey

We assess the space, the rigging points, and what the cable run needs.

2

System Design

We design the wire cam setup around the coverage you want.

3

Installation

Our riggers build and safety-certify the cable system for the shoot.

4

Operation

Our team runs the rig during production with live camera control.

On Location

Spidercam and cable-cam coverage across France

Wire-cam systems reach shots that cranes and drones cannot — the dynamic, low sweep over a stadium pitch, the quiet overhead pass that préfecture drone rules block in central Paris, and the diagonal track across an arena crowd. We deploy Spidercam Light, Aerial 3D, and the larger SR2 packages at Stade de France, Parc des Princes, Roland-Garros, Accor Arena, and the Zénith circuit, plus the Cannes Lions main stage. For concert tours, we also work the Olympia and Paris La Défense Arena.

Rigging is the heart of the work. Our installs are run by certified IRATA and SFETH technicians who survey the anchor structure, work out cable tensions with safety margins above the broadcast standard, and sign off the rig before talent walks under it. The camera head is a stabilised gimbal — a Newton, ARRI SRH-3, or Shotover G1. It carries broadcast bodies for live sports and a Sony Venice 2 or ARRI Alexa Mini LF for cinema-grade event records. Focus, iris, pan-tilt-roll, and zoom all run on remote control back at the broadcast village.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a wire cam/Spidercam?

Wire cams, such as Spidercam, are cameras hung on cables strung between several anchor points. The rig changes the length of each cable, which lets the camera move freely in 3D space—side to side, up and down, and everywhere in between.

What venues suit wire cam systems?

Wire cams work in any venue with solid anchor points—stadiums, arenas, concert halls, large studios, and outdoor events. They are especially valuable where a crane or drone is not practical or not allowed.

How fast can wire cams move?

Modern wire cam systems reach impressive speeds, and Spidercam rigs can travel at over 30 km/h while keeping the footage stable. That speed makes them ideal for following fast action in sports and live event coverage.

What about safety?

Safety comes first. Wire cam systems use backup cables, automatic tension tracking, and fail-safe mechanisms. Our crews are certified riggers who follow strict safety rules for overhead systems.

Can wire cams work outdoors?

Yes, with the right weather planning. Wire cams suit outdoor events, festivals, and open-air film shoots. Wind limits apply, so we watch conditions throughout the shoot.

What camera packages are available?

Wire cams can carry many camera packages, from broadcast cameras to cinema cameras, depending on the system's capacity. Each one sits on a stabilized gimbal with remote control of pan, tilt, zoom, and focus.

Productions in France that need this often pair it with Cable Cam Systems, Aerial Drone Services, and Helicopter Filming for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Portable Power Solutions and Camera & Cinematography.
