SCENE 01 / BOOM MICROPHONES

Boom Microphones

Professional shotgun microphones and boom equipment for your French production.

Scroll

Boom microphones are key for capturing clean dialogue and ambient sound on set. These directional mics mount on extending poles, so the operator can hold the mic close to talent while keeping it out of frame. The result is focused audio with very little background noise.

We give you a full range of pro boom microphone systems. This covers shotgun mics, hypercardioid capsules, and light boom poles matched to your shoot. Our team sets up delivery and backup gear so your sound department runs smoothly across the whole shoot.

Boom microphone kits for French production sound

Boom work in France swings between extremes. You might capture clean dialogue in a Le Marais courtyard ringed by café noise, record an interview inside a stone-walled château in the Loire, or chase actors across a windswept beach in Brittany. Our boom inventory is built to handle each of these. We supply Sennheiser MKH 416, Schoeps CMIT 5U, and Sanken CS-3e shotguns with K-Tek and Ambient carbon poles in 3m and 4m lengths. All of it comes from Paris rental houses such as TSF, RVZ, and Loca-Images, so prep days happen on the same campus as the rest of the camera build.

Each boom kit ships with a full Rycote or Cinela windshield system, shock mount, XLR cabling, and the spare batteries you need for a full shooting day. Our team plans with the production sound mixer in advance to confirm pole length, capsule choice, and wind protection for the actual locations on the schedule. That means heavier fur for Côte d'Azur mistral exteriors and a lighter softie for a Lyon interior. We also keep backup capsules on standby in Paris, so a swap is a courier ride away, not a half-day delay on a moving location.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Which shotgun mic do you recommend?

The Sennheiser MKH 416 stays the industry standard, since it is reliable and works in many conditions. For quieter interiors, the Schoeps CMIT 5U gives you top clarity. The Sanken CS-3e is great for cutting off-axis noise in tricky locations.

What boom pole lengths are available?

We stock boom poles from 2m to 6m in many setups. Most shoots use 3-4m poles for standard work. K-Tek and Ambient poles route the cable inside the pole, which keeps the rig clean, so we recommend them.

What wind protection do you provide?

We give you full windscreen systems from Rycote and Cinela for any conditions, from light interior air movement to heavy exterior wind. Each kit has the right fur covers for the conditions you'll face.

Can you provide complete boom kits?

Yes, we give you full boom packages with the microphone, pole, shock mount, windscreen, cables, and every accessory you need. Each kit is prepped and tested before delivery.

Do you offer backup equipment?

Yes, we recommend and can give you backup microphones and key accessories for longer shoots. Spare gear on hand protects your shoot against any equipment failure.

What about interior vs exterior mics?

Some shoots use different microphones for interior and exterior work, but modern shotguns like the MKH 416 and CS-3e perform well in both. We can advise on the best setup for your needs.

Productions in France that need this often pair it with Location Sound Packages, Wireless Systems, and Wireless Microphone Systems for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Camera Equipment Rental and Boom Operators.
