Full electric departments for French film and TV sets

Our gaffers and electric crews are the same teams that power night exteriors along the Seine, daylight interior beauty work in Marais ateliers, and high-key product builds in commercial studios at Aubervilliers and La Plaine Saint-Denis. Each booking has a gaffer, a best boy electric, and a scaled spark team — from a single-shooter documentary in Bordeaux up to ten-spark night units lighting cobblestones in Lyon's Vieux or the docklands of Marseille. Gear comes straight from TSF Lumière, Transpalux, and Panavision Alga, so the kit list your DP signs off is the kit list on the truck the night before.

Crews speak fluent French and English, keep their CDD or service-provider compliance current with French labour and CMB safety standards, and arrive having read the whole call-sheet, not just the lighting plan. They run ARRI SkyPanel arrays, M-series HMIs, Aputure 1200d Pros, and Astera tubes on steady colour science across set, and they blend cleanly with grip and rigging teams for practical-heavy looks through Haussmann interiors, Côte d'Azur exteriors, and Normandy coastal night work. You get one number and one accountable head of department, and each department stays set up for the length of your French shoot.

FAQ

Our Lighting Network

What does a gaffer do on set?

The gaffer heads the electrical and lighting department and delivers the DP's lighting vision. They design lighting setups, run the electric crew, set up gear, and keep power distribution safe across the production.

What crew positions are in a lighting department?

A full lighting department has a Gaffer (department head), a Best Boy Electric (the gaffer's assistant, who runs crew and gear), and Electricians or Sparks (who set up and run lights). Larger shoots also add Rigging Gaffers and Generator Operators.

Do your lighting crews bring their own equipment?

Crew and gear are mostly booked apart. We can set up gear packages from French rental houses to round out your crew booking. Some gaffers bring their own gear for smaller shoots.

How many electricians do I need for my production?

Crew size depends on production scale. Small shoots may need just a gaffer, and medium shoots usually need a gaffer plus a best boy and 1-2 electricians. Larger shoots need full departments with rigging crews.

Can your lighting crews work with international DPs?

Yes. Our gaffers are skilled at working with global cinematographers, and they know the terms, techniques, and workflow they expect. Many speak both French and English.

Do you provide generators and power distribution?

We set up generator hire and distribution gear through our rental partners. Generator operators can join your crew package on shoots that need major power setup.

Productions in France that need this often pair it with LED Lighting Systems, Portable Power Solutions, and Grip Services for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Gimbal Filming and Virtual Production.
