Scroll

Steadicam and gimbal systems give smooth, stabilized camera movement that follows the action through busy scenes. These tools cut out unwanted shake and vibration, so operators can run fluid tracking shots, walk-and-talks, and detailed choreographed sequences with cinematic polish.

We connect you with skilled Steadicam and gimbal operators who bring both technical skill and a creative eye to your shoot. Our team picks the right stabilization rig for your camera package and your shooting needs, and it slots in cleanly with your camera department.

Steadicam and gimbal operators for French sets

Our stabilised camera operators are the ones already on the call-sheets for shoots you see at the Cannes Quinzaine and on Arte. We supply SOA-registered Steadicam owner-operators with PRO, M2, and Volt-equipped rigs for long-take feature work through the corridors of the Palais Royal, walk-and-talks along the Promenade des Anglais, and choreographed reveals across the cobblestones of Montmartre. Gimbal pros run DJI Ronin 4D, Freefly MoVI Pro, and ARRI Trinity hybrid rigs for documentary work in the Camargue, drama coverage in the bouchons of Lyon, and fast commercial sequences staged at La Défense.

When operators don't carry their own, we source rigs through TSF Caméra, Panavision Alga, and RVZ, so camera bodies from the ARRI Alexa 35 down to the Sony FX6 balance correctly before the first rehearsal. Each booking comes with prep-day balancing, on-set rehearsal time, and the operator's first AC when the rig needs a dedicated focus puller. Our operators read directors fast, mark precise floor patterns with the 1st AD, and absorb last-minute blocking changes without losing the take. That in-the-moment problem-solving is what turns a usable shot into a hero shot.

FAQ

Our Equipment & Expertise

When should I choose Steadicam versus gimbal stabilization?

Steadicam shines on long takes, heavy cinema cameras, and smooth natural movement. Gimbals give you more freedom for run-and-gun work, lighter setups, and dynamic low-angle shots. Many shoots use both, and the choice comes down to each shot.

What camera systems can your operators support?

Our operators run all the major cinema cameras on Steadicam rigs, including ARRI Alexa, RED, Sony Venice, and Blackmagic. Gimbal operators handle these too, plus lighter bodies like the Canon C300, Sony FX6, and mirrorless cameras.

How much rehearsal time is needed for complex Steadicam shots?

Most detailed choreographed shots need 1-2 hours of on-set rehearsal. For big one-take sequences, we suggest a full or half rehearsal day before the shoot itself.

Do operators bring their own equipment?

Most of our Steadicam operators own their own rigs. Gimbal gear can be operator-owned or rented on its own. We arrange the gear to fit your production's needs and budget.

Can you combine Steadicam with other camera movement?

Yes. We often shoot moves that pair Steadicam or gimbal with dollies, cranes, cars, and cable cam systems. These layered sequences just need extra prep and planning.

What are typical day rates for Steadicam operators?

Day rates vary with operator experience, the gear used, and the type of production. Each rate covers the operator and their stabilization rig. Camera, lenses, and accessories are usually billed apart. Contact us for a firm quote.

Productions in France that need this often pair it with Director of Photography Services, Multi-Camera Shoots, and Drone Videography for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Virtual Production and Gaffer & Lighting Services.
